LG Redefines Gaming Displays with UltraGear evo: 5K MiniLED, 5K2K OLED, and AI Power at CES 2026

LG is set to revolutionize the gaming monitor landscape with the unveiling of its premium UltraGear evo brand at CES 2026. This new lineup signifies a bold leap into the realm of ultra-high resolution, unprecedented speed, and deeply immersive gaming experiences, promising an end to the compromises gamers have long endured. At the forefront of this innovation is the groundbreaking 39-inch 5K2K OLED monitor, boasting integrated AI upscaling capabilities for picture perfection.

“The new UltraGear evo marks the end of compromises in gaming displays. With innovations like the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling technology, users will experience the same high level of clarity, performance, and immersion,” stated Lee Chun-hwan, Head of LG’s Display Business Unit.
The AI-Powered Ultrawide: 39-inch UltraGear evo GX9 (39GX950B)

Leading the charge is the 39GX950B, an expansive 39-inch ultrawide OLED monitor featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio and an immersive 1500R curvature. This display pushes the boundaries with its 5K2K resolution and, crucially, LG’s proprietary 5K AI Upscaling. This intelligent system analyzes and refines content before it even hits the panel, delivering stunning 5K clarity without burdening your GPU. The AI suite extends further with AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound, enhancing every aspect of the visual and auditory experience. Gamers will appreciate the versatile Dual Mode, offering a fluid 165Hz at 5K2K and an astonishing 330Hz at WFHD. With a lightning-fast 0.03ms (GtG) response time and 142 PPI pixel density, coupled with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, the Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel ensures exceptional brightness, color accuracy, and longevity. Its vertical height is akin to a 32-inch monitor, yet the wider field of view creates an unparalleled gaming and multitasking environment.

Combating Bloom: The 27-inch UltraGear evo GM9 (27GM950B)

LG also introduces the 27GM950B, a pioneering 27-inch 5K New MiniLED monitor engineered to tackle the persistent issue of blooming—the distracting halo effect around bright objects on dark backgrounds. This display features an impressive 2304 local dimming zones and Zero Optical Distance technology, which minimizes the gap between the LED backlight and the panel. Like its ultrawide sibling, the 27GM950B is infused with the same intelligent AI features for image and sound optimization. Its Dual Mode provides 165Hz at 5K and an incredible 330Hz at QHD. With a 1ms (GtG) response time, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and a peak brightness of 1250 nits, this monitor promises vibrant visuals and exceptional contrast.

The Massive 5K2K Gaming Canvas: 52-inch UltraGear evo G9 (52G930B)

For those craving the ultimate in screen real estate, LG presents the 52G930B. This behemoth stands as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor, featuring a rapid 240Hz refresh rate and an aggressive 1000R curve. While its vertical height matches a standard 42-inch 16:9 display, its ultrawide 12:9 aspect ratio grants a staggering 33% more horizontal workspace than typical UHD monitors. Although AI features are not highlighted for this model, it boasts VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, offering a vast and immersive canvas for any gaming or creative endeavor.

Availability and Beyond

The entire UltraGear evo lineup will be showcased at CES 2026, prominently featured in the Dream Setup zone and powering the SimCraft racing simulator with the 39GX950B. Coinciding with the exhibition’s opening, LG will also launch global sales for the 27GX790B, a 27-inch QHD OLED monitor with a mind-bending 540Hz refresh rate (and a 720Hz mode at HD). This strategic move places LG firmly at the forefront of display technology, setting new benchmarks for the gaming industry.
