Pornhub's 2025 Data: Ukraine Slips in Rankings, Linux Surges, and Android Reigns Supreme

Pornhub has unveiled its annual usage report, offering a fascinating glimpse into global trends and user behavior on the platform. While many patterns remain consistent year-over-year, several shifts caught our attention, painting a curious picture of digital consumption habits. The platform's data, typically a subject of intrigue, reveals notable changes in geographic popularity, operating system preferences, and even viewer engagement times.

Geographic Shifts and Search Trends

This year's report sees Ukraine fall out of the top 15 countries for traffic, a noticeable dip from its previous standing. While the full report details a top 20 list, the specific decline for Ukraine is a point of interest. Globally, the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines continue to dominate traffic, with France experiencing a significant drop, likely attributable to national-level website blocking. On the search front, 'hentai' maintains its reign for the fifth consecutive year, a testament to its enduring appeal. Within the realm of popular performers, Alex Adams, Angela White, and Violet Myers consistently capture attention. Ukrainian users largely mirror these global preferences, with the notable addition of their compatriot, Josephine Jackson, to their list of favored stars.

Engagement Metrics and National Categories

Average time spent on the platform has slightly decreased, clocking in at 9 minutes and 33 seconds, a seven-second reduction from the previous year. This decline is most pronounced in the 18-24 age group, which saw a 26-second drop. Interestingly, women spent an average of 16 seconds longer on the site than men. National categories have demonstrated the most dramatic shifts. Japan has emerged as the undisputed leader in average engagement time, boasting an impressive 11 minutes and 2 seconds, a significant leap from its eighth-place position last year. Conversely, Mexico, the previous record-holder, has slipped nine places, with an average engagement time of 9 minutes and 17 seconds. Ukraine, however, shows an increase, securing eighth place with 9 minutes and 39 seconds, 14 seconds more than in 2024. Peak traffic hours are consistently between 10 PM and midnight, with Sundays proving to be the busiest day. The quietest period, conversely, is typically observed at 4 AM on Thursdays.

Men continue to drive overall viewership, though women account for a substantial 38% of all Pornhub traffic. However, in specific regions like the Philippines, Colombia, and Argentina, female users represent the majority. The average user age remains stable at 38 years. The 18-24 age bracket represents 29% of all views, while the 65+ demographic constitutes a smaller but present 7% of the audience.

The Rise of Linux and the Smartphone Staple

Smartphones unequivocally maintain their dominance, accounting for a staggering 87% of all traffic. Desktop and laptop usage holds at 11%, yet surprisingly, PC traffic has seen a remarkable 39% increase, alongside a 31% surge in tablet usage, though tablets still represent a modest 2% of the total. On the mobile operating system front, Android continues its firm grip, powering 67.7% of traffic with a 3.5% growth, while iOS has seen a decline of 4.9% since 2024, contributing 33.1%. This leaves a minuscule 0.2% for all other mobile OS contenders. The most intriguing development, however, lies within desktop operating systems. While Windows remains the undisputed king with 70.5% of traffic, and macOS holds a respectable 20.3%, Linux has experienced an extraordinary surge of over 20%, now accounting for 6.3% of PC traffic. This dramatic uptick could potentially be linked to the phasing out of Windows 10 support and a reluctance among users to adopt newer operating systems. Chrome OS rounds out the desktop OS landscape with 2.4%.

Browser Preferences and Console Crossovers

Chrome dominates browser usage across both mobile and desktop. On mobile, it accounts for 68.6% of traffic, followed by Safari (23.1%) and a collection of others including Samsung Internet, Android, Opera, and Firefox. On desktops, Chrome's lead is slightly less pronounced but still substantial at 56.9%, with Safari and Edge also showing significant shares. Notably, the Meta Quest browser has emerged this year, capturing 1% of desktop traffic and, along with Firefox and Opera, exhibiting the most substantial growth. Gaming consoles also contribute to the traffic mix, with the PlayStation 5 leading the charge at 66% of console traffic, an 11% increase from the previous year. PlayStation 4 usage is declining as expected (32% of console traffic), while Xbox has experienced a dramatic drop of 69%, now representing only 2% of console viewership.

Pop Culture Parodies and Gaming Interests

In the realm of parodies, 'Star Wars' continues to captivate audiences. Intriguingly, searches for 'Spider-Man' have seen an anomalous spike, perhaps fueled by anticipation for upcoming film releases. In the video game category, 'Genshin Impact' has dethroned 'Fortnite' as the most popular search term for the first time in five years. 'Super Mario' has also made a significant leap, climbing 14 positions, likely buoyed by the excitement surrounding the potential release of the Nintendo Switch 2. When focusing solely on individual game characters, Tifa from Final Fantasy has surpassed Chun-Li from Street Fighter as the most searched-for character.
