A Heartfelt Ceremony for Die-Hard Fans: Sega Offers a Unique Chance to "Marry" Like a Dragon Icons

In a move that’s sure to set the hearts of dedicated fans aflutter, Sega and RGG Studio are rolling out an extraordinary event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the beloved Like a Dragon (formerly Yakuza) series. Titled “Four Life Ceremonies,” this special exhibition will feature a truly unique offering: the chance for fans to participate in a symbolic “wedding” ceremony with their favorite characters from the franchise, including the legendary Kazuma Kiryu and the enigmatic Goro Majima.

While these unions won't hold any legal standing, the experience promises to be an unforgettable, emotionally resonant tribute to the series' enduring legacy. The exhibition is slated to take place in Tokyo from November 28th to December 22nd, followed by a run in Osaka from February 6th to 24th. Attendees will be transported into a meticulously recreated wedding hall, complete with appearances from eleven iconic Like a Dragon characters, such as Kiryu, Majima, Ichiban Kasuga, and Sounhi. This immersive space will serve as an incredible photo opportunity, allowing fans to capture cherished memories.

Beyond the Photo Booth: An Augmented Reality Love Story

Adding another layer of digital enchantment, an augmented reality (AR) application will enable fans to craft their own personalized “wedding” photos. By utilizing newly illustrated artwork specifically designed for this event, players can create whimsical and touching digital keepsakes featuring them alongside their chosen characters.

But the pinnacle of this celebration of fandom is the “Special Wedding Package.” For a considerable sum of 150,000 yen, approximately $980 USD, 15 fortunate fans will have the opportunity to experience a truly bespoke ceremony. This exclusive package includes an intimate ceremony with a specific character, complete with all the trimmings: a wedding dress or tuxedo, professional makeup and hairstyling, a dedicated photographer, and even the inclusion of ten symbolic guests. To commemorate the occasion, participants will receive a souvenir marriage certificate, and for a touch of playful closure, a symbolic “divorce document.”

A Glimpse into the Future of Yakuza Remakes

It's worth noting that this celebratory event coincides with the anticipation surrounding the remake of Yakuza 3, which is set to feature a surprising twist: the final boss will ascend to become the main protagonist. This creative reimagining hints at the ongoing innovation and dedication RGG Studio brings to the franchise, keeping both long-time followers and newcomers thoroughly engaged.

The limited nature of the special wedding package, with only 15 spots available via lottery, underscores its exclusivity. This endeavor is a brilliant marketing strategy, tapping into the deep emotional connection fans have forged with the characters over two decades, transforming digital affection into a tangible, albeit symbolic, real-world experience. It’s a testament to the power of storytelling and character development that allows such a unique, and admittedly quirky, offering to be met with enthusiasm.
